How to Save Money on Your Car Insurance
(Without Compromising on Quality)
Do you want to save money on your auto insurance but you are worried that switching companies will be difficult or that you will lose an important policy coverage? It is important that your insurance company will take care of you when it counts…
So here are some tips on how to successfully shop your car insurance:
1 – Collect the declaration pages for all of your current policies.
These documents will show the coverage you currently carry, the cars you insure and the drivers on your policy. Most companies offer a discount for combining your home/renters and auto insurance so you might as well get a quote on both at the same time. If you do not know where your most recent declaration pages are then your current insurance company should be able to easily provide those by email.
Shopping is a great time to reevaluate your coverage but it is helpful to know where you are right now.
Lastly, don’t be afraid to share your declarations with the company you are getting a quote from. While insurance rates vary from company to company based on everything from your driving history, to your age and even your credit rating each company is required to file their rates with the state so you don’t have to worry about sharing what you are currently paying.
2 – Ask about discounts!
Most companies have discounts for being a safe driver and bundling your policies which are automatically included. Many companies now offer unique discounts for things like:
–Going paperless
-Paying- in-full
-Participating in Apps or other programs that track driving habits
– Taking a Driver Safety Course
3. Decide if you want an agent or a 1-800- Number
